Mentoring CommitteeThe Mentoring Committee provides two main services to the students: Assigns a Dedicated Mentor to Each StudentOur goal is to match each student with a mentor shortly after they enter the program. Most of our mentors are Information Technology (IT) professionals. The mentors volunteer 2-3 hours of their time each month to meet with their student at a time that is convenient for both of them. The Mentoring Committee is responsible for recruiting new mentors and assisting the AbilITy Connection Coordinator in matching the mentor with a student. Organizes Monthly Training Sessions for the StudentsThe Mentoring Committee is responsible for identifying topics and speakers for the monthly student training sessions. These training sessions are intended to complement the coursework the students are studying at local colleges. Examples of recent topics includes: resume writing, business etiquette, and IT industry trends. In addition to these training sessions, we work with the AbilITy Connection Coordinator to organize mock interviews for the students with BAC member companies. Contact Brandi Wright (from the American Cancer Society) for more information. Committee MeetingsMentor Committee meetings are held either the second or third Thursday of each month, please contact the Mentor Committee chairperson Brandi Wright or AbilITy Connection Coordinator, Peggy Dooley for date, time and location.
